With the group having a rest week last weekend, Chelmsford were back at home against a Holt side who are always historically difficult to beat. As a strong pack including Frankie Hart, Will Cooper and Josh Cavey was being fielded and with Jack Lavin at fly half, the luncheon crowd were expectant.
Winning the toss and playing up the slope, Chelmsford started well as they set their early intentions out by playing with width from the start. In the first half four tries were scored from captain Scott James, James Gadd, Joshua Cavey and Ross Toomey. Three tries were converted by Jamie Morrish and a penalty was kicked. Half time score - Chelmsford 27 Holt 0
As Chelmsford returned to the field from the dry of the changing room, the same intensity needed to be applied. Scrummage ball was a plenty and despite a very slippery surface from the driving rain control needed to be shown. Great attacking shape saw eight tries in the second half as James made it a brace, Gadd made it a hat trick, Noah Pyne scored a brace and Joel Barker, Ash Toomey and Jack Lavin all dotted down. The Blueboys were relentless in their tempo. Full time score - Chelmsford 75 Holt 0.
A super display from the Blueboys that will hopefully find some consistency in availability soon. Just think what the group could achieve if all were 'at it' every week!
