Sunday saw two Chelmsford u14 teams in action with the 1s travelling to South Woodham Ferrers and the 3s travelling to Canvey Island. Sadly, Brentwood had to pull out of the league fixture with our 2s due to a rescheduled cup game.
The 1s kicked off first and never gave South Woodham much of a chance to get into the game with Chelmsford coming off the field as easy 0-46 winners. In the face of some quite aggressive play from our opposition, the Chelmsford boys never once lost their discipline and showed great control in all aspects of their play.
The 3s were next to play but struggled from the start against a physically bigger Canvey side. In attack, Chelmsford struggled to hold onto the ball for long enough to really put together any phases. In defence, Canvey did a great job of targeting our weaker defenders and scored twice in the first half to take the lead. It was a similar story in the second half and the final score was 0-34 to our hosts. To their credit, the Chelmsford boys kept their heads up right to the end and never stopped trying.
Next weekend sees the u14s travel to Hertford for a friendly fixture.
