The Bluebirds continued their pre-season preparations with a Friday Night Lights friendly at Ipswich Ladies. Despite missing a number of players, a confident squad headed up the A12 bolstered by 4 Witham Ladies players for their first outing proper of the season. Even though it was a 'friendly', it was a hard fought and competitive game, with some excellent rugby being played by both sides and in undertaking the new tackle height laws saw very few penalties given for tackle infringements, so all credit to both playing sides.

With plenty of vocal support from those watching, especially for the home side, the Bluebirds came away with a hard earned 40-22 victory to bolster the confidence heading into the season proper on September 17th where they host Thamesians Women at Coronation Park - please come along and support as they get their Women's NC1 South East (North) league campaign under way.
