Come try rugby at Chelmsford Rugby Club

Would your son or daughter like to give rugby a go?

• Have fun and learn new skills.
• Make new friends.
• Learn how to play a great sport.
• Be part of a great community club.
• Great values - Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Respect.

Come down and have a try with us at Chelmsford RFC.

We offer fun rugby sessions every Sunday for boys and girls' aged 5-12 (school yr1 to Yr6) at Coronation Park in Chelmsford. Rugby isn’t an expensive sport to play and your first few sessions are always free.

School year 1-3 (u6-8) play non-contact Tag rugby with more contact elements added when they reach year 4 (u9) The introduction of contact is gradual and all training is under the watchful eyes of our DBS’d club coaches. Rugby at this age is not overly competitive and the focus is always more on having fun than it is on winning.

We have an amazing clubhouse and canteen and a full calendar of sporting and social events through the year. You don’t have to know anything about rugby or have played yourself to get involved. You can be assured of a warm welcome.

Kids jdon’t need much to get started - suitable warm clothes to train in (maybe some extra layers in really cold weather), football boots and a water bottle (and a mouthguard from yr4 – these can be bought online or from most sports shops for a few quid – we also sell these in the clubhouse if you are stuck).

You don’t have to get in touch beforehand but if you, please click the page below to go the right team for you. It is also worth checkign your age group aren’t playing a fixture before travelling by clicking the fixture link below.
